~ On any safari there's a reasonable possibility of observing an unfamiliar species...in this case it was Pterocles decoratus, Black-faced Sandgrouse...amateur that I am, while photographing it I mistakenly supposed that it might be a small francolin...through careful cross-checking of bird and animal guidebooks with supplemental support from Google images, my awareness of East African wildlife is gradually improving
