~ This quartet of images shows an older male Syncerus caffer, African Buffalo, covered in mud after a wallow in a small waterhole...the images were made at fairly close range, filling the camera frame...there are times when one feels like this buffalo looks, smeared and filthy from life's vicissitudes yet unbroken and ready to move on to better times...the indomitable, devil-may-care stoicism of the buffalo brings a smile to my face
