~ This series may be the finest bird set that I've taken…an adult Ardea alba, Great Egret, was standing close offshore in the Sanya River near the small lookout point where I stood…the EOS 1D Mark IV and EF 400mm f/5.6L super telephoto worked together with unfailing finesse, making possible these images of the bird fishing, eating, flying and wading…the act of photography was deeply fulfilling at the time, as was the light post-processing, which amounted to no more than mild cropping and brightening
