~ These two shots are a direct result of reading a long on-line article by Danish photographer Thorsten Overgaard about shooting with the Leica M9-P rangefinder camera…in the course of reading his persuasive explanations of handheld shooting with a manually focused rangefinder, he mentioned that while he typically shoots in 'M' manual mode at the standard Leica native ISO setting of 160, at night and indoors he reverts to an unvarying ISO 800…this was an entirely new concept to me, yet as his writing is reasonable and close to my own sensibilities, I mounted the Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 50mm f/2 ZE lens on the EOS 1D X at nearly midnight, changed the ISO from 100 to 800 and took these two images…as the results speak for themselves, this will alter my indoor and night photography practice…what fun to learn something useful!
