~ This series shows the features around the entrance of Karez Paradise, located in in the general vicinity of Xinjiang, Turpan (新疆吐鲁番)…like Persian-style qanat systems elsewhere, it comprises vertical shafts to gently sloping underground tunnels for collecting scarce water resources…there was a decidely Middle Eastern flair with regard to the setting, implements and ornamentation…almost no visitors and what few there were acted oblivious to the setting
