~ A delightful happenstance during the heavy downpour prior to dinner was the appearance of a brown, cream and tan blotchy toad, Duttaphrynus melanostictus, 黑眶蟾蜍, Asian Toad, in the decorative pond of the house…it was nearly dark under black rainclouds, thus I changed the PowerShot S95 settings to the night mode…these images were taken at ISO 4,000, unlike my customary ISO 80…the toad was disturbed by my chasing it around the pond to capture these images…when I stopped, I hope it felt more at ease on such a stormy evening...the identification of this species is courtesy of Wuhan herpetologist XIAO Xiao (肖骁), who very kindly corrected my earlier misidentification
