~ We stopped to photograph attractive yellow acacia blooms in a long cluster. Into an adjacent acacia of another species an adult Dicrurus adsimilis, Fork-tailed Drongo, flew and perched. Drongos are a given throughout Kenya, yet they seldom present themselves near enough for a detailed portrait. This was therefore a special occasion, as the drongo in question remained near enough for several images to be made. The vibrant red eye is visible, contrasting with the richly dark plumage. Drongos are a favorite of mine, perhaps because they're so directly associated with the manifold pleasures of being on safari.
