~ Our purpose for stopping mid-stream was to observe winged insects perched on vegetation around the flowing water. Upon careful examination, certain plants were of interest in their own right. This small selection includes several species growing around the stream, each of which hosted a colony of specialist insects. Plants are the backbone of the food chain, as much part of a safari as rivers, mountains and the sky.
