~ During all game drives in each of two visits to Meru National Park, Halcyon leucocephala, Grey-headed Kingfisher, has been a signature species. Perched on both living and dead branches, Halcyon leucocephala makes little effort to conceal its vibrant beauty, having electric blue lower dorsal plumage and a scarlet bill. One image includes a delicate spiderweb which indicates the bird's diminutive scale.
