~ A familiar phenomenon on safaris is the flocking of birds in the morning onto the tops of high bushes, shrubs, snags, or trees...often in flocks of hundreds, the massed birds fly as one group from perch to perch...the effect is dazzling, unlike anything one might typically observe elsewhere, due to the speed, coordination and aerial grace of the flocking motion...in these images, a few whydahs, queleas and superb starling are shown, with several birds in motion...this is an ongoing action which rarely stops long enough for an entirely mixed species flock to settle down
