~ It was a blustery, overcast morning as Yin and I walked past fishponds and 'gei wai' to the Mai Po Nature Reserve…the first species we encountered was entirely unexpected, observed in a small pond beside the road…Aythya fuligula, Tufted Duck, swimming away at a distance, frequently diving and returning to the surface at an increased distance…did they see us and want to keep as far away as possible?…no need as we were definitely bird-friendly!
