~ Beneath Noomotio is Lake Leakey, which adjoins the extensive marshy area of Enkongo Narok Swamp. One typically observes small groups of Pelecanus onocrotalus, Great White Pelican, flying over and swimming on the lake. In this visit there were one dozen pelicans resting on a small islet in the midst of scattered animal bones. A taphonomist would literally have a field day analyzing the bone placement, seeking to establish which predator was responsible.
