~ When QIU Chunhua, QIU Wenhui and I reached the village stream and were nearly ready to cross the rickety footbridge planking, Wenhui called our attention to a small butterfly resting near the tip of a leafy branch hanging out towards the stream…these images show Mandarinia regalis as it was originally observed, including close-ups taken from behind on the precariously sloping land surface...for the species identification I'm indebted to QIU Wenhui of the University of Oregon Department of Environmental Studies...he contacted Prof. WU Chunsheng (武春生) of the Key Laboratory of Zoological Systematics and Evolution of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, who readily identified the species
