~ The most memorable event of my 60th birthday, while taking photos in Singapore's Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, was being firmly slapped on my ankle by the whip-like tail of the Varanus salvator, Water Monitor…as my vision is limited to my right eye, while I was following and photographing an elusive Junonia hedonia, I apparently came too close to this Varanus salvator, resting on the path, thus it warned me with a strong tail-slap…once recovered from the assault, the reward was taking this group of close range images…a mosquito is visible just below the monitor's left eye in several images
