~ The sector of Amboseli National Park in which we were driving was flat without any hills other than almost imperceptible rises....the short grass was luxuriant, affording ample fodder for mammals and birds...underlying the healthy life was the presence of freshwater in sufficient quantity to sustain a diverse ecosystem...the image of a track rising over a culvert is characteristic of driving through the Amboseli grasslands
