~ Today marks 14 years that I've served as a university instructor in Beijing…today is also the morning when my long-time friend QIU Wenhui leaves his Fujian village to travel to Shanghai to fly to Vancouver, Canada, thence to Portland, Oregon and his new life as a graduate student in the University of Oregon Department of Environmental Studies in Eugene…these dawn images were taken with Wenhui's departure in mind as well as my own fourteen years in China
