~ This was my 6th visit to Hong Kong, yet I'd not returned to University Station since the first visit…MU Tong and I were en route to the Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve, but stopped off at University Station first…our aim was to photograph the "New Goddess of Democracy" statue (新民主女神像) placed facing the subway station exit by the Student Union of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)…we were pleased to see the confident-looking statue in fine condition, without any needless security cameras or security guards…it was firmly secured by guy wires to prevent it being blown over in a typhoon…the spirit of the statue and what it represents was refreshing to see…we wish that all of our friends in mainland China might someday see it for themselves
