All Images Manually Focussed, Handheld with the Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE on the EOS 1D X and No Post-Processing Aside from Cropping

~ This series of rose blooms was taken in late afternoon walking around the sides of a small raised rosebed near the sidewalk fence at the eastern perimeter of the UCAS Yuquan Road campus, where I work and live…photographing them was an experiment, taking manually focussed, handheld test shots with the Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE on the EOS 1D X, and uploading them without any sort of post-processing aside from moderate cropping…the intent was to determine if the lens was capable of gathering sufficient bright late afternoon sunlight to illuminate the subjects with rich, natural colors…by shooting wide open, with the largest aperture, the background was intentionally out of focus in order to highlight the roses…the deepest red rose in the series may be the first fully satisfactory classic red rose that I've photographed during nearly four years of photography, which is a tribute to the EOS 1D X sensor and the superb resolution ability of the Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE lens
