~ This portrait of a feeding Crocuta crocuta, Fisi, 斑鬣狗, Spotted Hyena or Laughing Hyena, was taken at a range of around two meters…the camera was aimed downward from the open ledge of a safari van next to a waste disposal pit serving nearby Keekorok Lodge in Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya…several Crocuta crocuta appeared, disturbing an Olive Baboon troop and a dozen Marabou Storks who were already scavenging…this particular hyena was edgy, radiating nervous tension as it jumped up…the handheld, natural light portrait captured the animal's energy, as well as insects around its eyes and head
