~ This series was made at around 6:30 am, leaning out the 8th floor northward-facing kitchen window, the camera lens facing east...all images are handheld, with no post-processing, taken with the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II super telephoto lens on the Canon EOS 1D X...various shutter speeds were used in order to vary the dawn color tones...swallows and a magpie are visible, which were several kilometers distant...I was inspired to make this series after receiving an unexpected e-mail from my old friend, Michael Littman, from Hawai’i, who once taught English on Kyushu
