~ This photograph shows several Hippopotamus amphibius, Hippos, 河马, resting together on the shore of the Mara River…although this image was taken from a safari van parked on a bluff overlooking the Kenya side of the river, these hippos were napping on the Tanzania side…our safari guide, Anthony Gitau, explained that the recent rains had resulted in cooler temperatures which caused the hippos to leave their customary watery home for a rare sandy snooze
