~ An unexpected part of our Grape Valley (葡萄沟) visit was a ten-minute performance by a tightwire artist (走钢丝)…this series shows his skills at remaining balanced while carrying a long pole…he laughed at times and intentionally startled the audience below by a well-timed comic slip…I felt considerable relief when he returned to terra firma with much applause for his skills
