~ An especially appealing aspect of our multi-day stay in the Xishuangbanna National Tropical Botanical Garden was the palpable sense of camaraderie with the birders staying there…we'd see one another at meals…some were in groups…some were Japanese, others Chinese…their energy and dedication despite being my age or older was inspiring…seeing individual men using large super telephoto lenses with camouflage directly inspired my eventual purchase of the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II super telephoto and the use of camouflage neoprene covering…it felt good to smile and exchange looks at bird photos, as we all instinctively understood one another…the Birders
