~ An family of Loxodonta africana, African Elephant, was moving through the area near the resting lioness, briefly stopping for water...it was early evening, hence low light, yet these images captured the proximity of the elephants to our vantage point...one with a broken left tusk was a guard, keeping an eye on us and occasionally walking towards us with an assertive stance...Tsavo West had a more robust welcome for the first day of the safari than I'd expected
