~ The snow from this morning remained in sheltered spots as CHEN Jian and I walked to the Beijing Concert Hall for a concert by the EOS Orchestra Academy…our seats were front row center, affording us superb views of the two woodwind soloists and Maestro HU Yongyan, who graciously greeted me…the Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique was played with verve…I learned that Jian had played baritone horn in a military band as an undergraduate at China University of Mining and Technology in Jiangsu, Xuzhou
