~ Early in the morning, while waiting to join XU Ni for breakfast in the Rhino Valley Lodge dining area, I was looking around my room's porch for subjects of interest to photograph...I noticed this Accipiter ovampensis, Ovambo Sparrowhawk, perched directly above the stairs leading to Ni's adjacent but separate room...it was a technical challenge to photograph, because of the morning's low light and the necessity to aim the lens upward with the darkened bird against a light background...after returning to Beijing, post-processing brought out the distinctive features and colors
