~ As Deming and I were walking away from the reed area towards the small hill at the north of the park, I spotted a small reddish bird in bushes…we stopped but were unable to see it…after waiting, I spotted it actively flitting through cedar trees, ostensibly eating berries…this series was taken during the one a half minutes we observed it, popping out here and there in the cedar boughs...the diminutive size of the bird was striking, with a small head, small bill and small eyes, yet it's tail was relatively substantial…I owe a large debt of thanks to my student, Mr. GU Bojian (顾伯健) of Ningxia, Yinchuan, who provided the correct identification, which he'd in turn received from friends in the Beijing Birdwatching Society...Paradoxornis webbianus, 棕头鸦雀, is a completely unfamiliar species to me
