~ Timing is everything with regard to photographing newborns...it happened that we were visiting Amboseli National Park very soon after the birth of Connochaetes taurinus albojubatus, White-bearded Wildebeest, calves...this series shows a mother and calf where the newborn's dried umbilical cord remains attached...its awkward walking and exceptional closeness to its patient mother reflected its newborn life...such a privilege to observe the instinctive affection bonding mother and calf
