~ This series was made over a 25 minute long distance observation of a protracted confrontation between two scavengers wanting the carcass of a Eudorcas thomsonii, Thomson's Gazelle...a large Aquila rapax, Tawny Eagle, and a Canis mesomelas, Black-backed Jackal, repeatedly confronted one another at the gazelle carcass, all the while poignantly watched by a fairly fearless Eudorcas thomsonii...as the images show, there was considerable drama between the eagle and the jackal, neither of whom would relent, using their wiles to intimidate one another...in the end, both departed, neither one eating the prize
