~ We stayed at the Tuha Petroleum Hotel, located in the northern area of Urumqi, a bit south of the Xinjiang Sports Complex…my room was on the ninth floor, facing southward…all of my non-workng time was en suite, due to intestinal illness throughout the week…with the assistance of graduate student WANG Fei, I tasted a local dish which I'd first enjoyed outside of the southeast gate of Beihang University, over one dozen years ago
