~ Seven months ago ZHU Jinjie and I were on a morning game drive in Masai Mara when we observed a small colony of agama on an isolated rock outcropping. At the time it perplexed us, as the behavior and coloration seemed different from the familiar Agama agama. On this game drive the same species was spotted near a brook. It was Agama mwanzae, Mwanza Flat-headed Agama. Water droplets on the grass and a tiny pool of rainwater were evidence that the agama's community had recently been drenched from the sky.
