~ What's a visit to Hong Kong without spotting a kingfisher?…looking out to sea from near the beach we visited, I spotted a bird very rapidly skinmming the surface…not looking like typical waterfowl, it had the distinctive rapid wingbeats of a kingfisher…using the EOS 1D Mark IV and the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II super telephoto lens, I tracked it across the sea surface, despite it being a distant, relatively small moving object…this sighting taught me that kingfishers do indeed go out from shore across the briny deep, when motivated to do so
