~ Ecological communities are typically semi-permanent, yet there are aspects of ecology which are transitory, i.e. the tendency for wildlife to shelter beneath the spreading canopy of major trees…this tree was growing south of Lake Nakuru, where we were observing four White Rhinoceros…zebras closely cluster beneath the tree, with Thomson's gazelle present and African buffalo nearby…such a tree provides shelter, a community node, and serves as a local landmark
